Confession of Faith
“The Word of God creates the church. Already in the days of the primitive church the Word of God gave to the life of the church those forms which have continued through the centuries.”
~ Bo Giertz, Liturgy and Spiritual Awakening
We believe, teach, and confess the historic doctrine of the the Holy Christian Church born from the Holy Scriptures, as confessed in the three ecumenical creeds, and as expressed in the Lutheran Confessions:
There is only one true God, the Holy Trinity—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—who is the creator and sustainer of all things.
All people are born in bondage to sin, death and the devil, and are thus unable to save themselves. Christ Jesus, the Son of God, took on human flesh and was born of the Virgin Mary. He bore and was crucified for the sins of the world. By his blood he has atoned for the sins of the world. On the third day he rose from the dead, defeating death and breaking open the tomb for all believers.
The Holy Spirit calls people to repentance and faith in Christ by the word of God. This same Holy Spirit delivers freely the gifts of God through the preaching of the word, Holy Absolution, the waters of Holy Baptism, and the true body and blood of Christ in the Holy Eucharist. Christ works in his people through the Holy Spirit so that they might live sanctified lives of love and sacrifice for the neighbor. Christ, who sits in authority at the right hand of God the Father, will return on the Last Day to judge both the living and the dead. To those who believe in him shall be given everlasting life.
